The biomedical industry is well represented in Italy by a district, which, has been progressively developing around the city of Mirandola. Consobiomed a consortium of small companies working in the biomedical field, has been created in 1990, as a result of the strong diffusion of a production culture focused on disposable devices together with the extraordinary technological abilities offered by the area.
At the very beginning, it was the necessity of manufacturing in observance of the international quality requirements and in compliance with strict law provisions, to stimulate a few companies to share a series of services, such as consultancy on companies quality systems and provisions as well as regulations of the field, management of the relationships with authorities and associations, controls in the production environments, training and refresher courses.
Once the certification objective was attained, the associated companies have focused on marketing, and in 1999 Consobiomed was transformed in a consortium for foreign trade. As a result, the activity was focused on the strengthening of exchanges with foreign countries, by means of exhibition organizations as well as business journeys, missions of partners abroad and/or of foreign operators in Italy, meeting organizations, promotions and research.
Nowadays, the consortium joins together highly technologically advanced companies having both an extremely dynamic and versatile production capacity and able to follow the whole production cycle of a wide range of medical devices and accessories.
